Shipbuilding in Sunderland
Starting in at least 1346, the shipbuilding industry in Sunderland continued through to 1988 where the last ship was launched onto the River Wear. With tens of thousands of vessels produced over six centuries by over 400 shipyards, the industry leaves many indicators to the history of one of the most famous shipbuilding industries in the world.
These analogue photographs were produced to show remnants which remain in the city of Sunderland which gently nod to such an important time in the region's history.
