For over 30 years this site has been operated by Liebherr producing heavy lifting equipment. Complex machines which could be considered artworks in their own right, are produced by highly skilled masters of their trades with a tradition going back to 1818 when Sir James Laing's shipyard first opened on the site.
It is easy to pass the building and take little notice despite the enormity in size and the far-reaching industrial heritage but sometimes we should try to look and not just see.
Focusing on shape, form and light, this series of images transports the ordinary view into its basic constituent parts and updating it for the present.
